Old radios and hi-fi, working and sounding the way they should.
We repair and restore valve radios, turntables, tape decks and amplifiers from the fifties to the nineties. Every set is checked, cleaned and tested on the bench for several days before it goes home.
On the bench this month
What we repair
Valve radios
Capacitor replacement, valve testing, dial cord restringing and alignment, with the original look kept intact.
Turntables
Belts, idlers, motor service, tonearm setup and speed calibration for direct-drive and belt-drive players.
Tape decks
Cassette and reel-to-reel machines: heads, rollers, belts, azimuth and a proper demagnetising.
Amplifiers and receivers
Recapping, noisy pots and switches, bias and offset adjustment, and safety checks for older mains wiring.
The workshop
Lindner started as a hobby bench in a Kreuzberg cellar. Today two technicians work here full time, with a shelf of spare valves and a drawer of belts for machines that have not been made for decades.
We prefer to repair rather than replace. If a set is not worth the money, we tell you before we start.
- How long does a repair take?
- Usually two to four weeks, including several days of testing after the work is done.
- Do you sell restored equipment?
- Occasionally. Ask us what is on the shelf when you visit.
- Can you ship repairs?
- Small items yes, if well packed. Large radios and amplifiers are best brought in person.
- Is there a warranty?
- Six months on all work we do.
